7digital What we said: It took a decade of hard slog but Snow Patrol finally matched critical acclaim with commercial success back in 2003, with the release of platinum-selling Final Straw. Fast-forward another eight years and despite being arguably one of Britain’s biggest musical exports, the Irish/Scottish five-piece are showing no signs of complacency yet, unveiling a sixth studio effort characterised by sonic experimentation. Taking its cues from LCD Soundsystem’s Sound of Silver and U2’s Achtung Baby, Fallen Empires finds the lads infusing their emotive indie with electronic touches, while still offering enough anthemic choruses to keep their stadium-sized audiences happy.
