7digital What we said: He may now be a rock legend and, allegedly, a diva of gargantuan proportions, but back in the day Trent Reznor was just a lowly Assistant Producer-cum-Janitor at Right Track Studios, laying down demos for Pretty Hate Machine on the sly. The early signs of megalomania were there for all to see, with Reznor playing nearly every note on the album, allowing only producers Flood and John Fryer to assist. But when producing industrial goth rock of this calibre, it seems churlish to complain. From ‘Head Like A Hole’ to ‘Ringfinger’ this remastered edition is a masterpiece of loathing and angst, and also includes bonus track ‘Get Down, Make Love.’ Essential.
