7digital What we said: Is there another band in the universe who have mastered immersive dream pop the way that Beach House have? Answers on the back of a postcard but, for now, the Baltimore duo seem unrivalled in creating genuine sonic magic that drifts effortlessly between cathartic shoegaze and sleepy lullaby. On 7 (unsurprisingly their seventh album) the pair are more hypnotic and bold than ever, citing “rebirth and rejuvenation” as the process behind the record. Certainly, there’s a fresh innovation to their sound, as for the first time they’ve decided to create songs that would be impossible to play live. Losing that self-imposed limitation grants a sumptuous freedom to proceedings, and - in these tumultuous times - the soothing balm of the Beach House brand feels more necessary than ever.
