With the tragic passings of Donna Summer and Robin Gibb still fresh in our minds, us disco fans are in need of a bit of good news. It just so happens that the Scissor Sisters are back to deliver some, in the shape of their fourth studio album. Described by front man Jake Shears as “a sweet, joyful mélange of beat-driven, future-pop”, Magic Hour finds the flamboyant five-piece breathing new life into their nu-disco, with the help of big-name producers Calvin Harris and Pharrell Williams. Add to that a collaboration with rapper du-jour Azealia Banks, and you’ve got probably their finest studio effort since 2004.
