Though released in the US some months back, You Are All I See wields a glacial beauty that seems significantly more suited to our wintery climes. It’s all the work of Pat Grossi, a laptop virtuoso from LA who’s already won the support of How To Dress Well’s Tom Krell (seeing him contribute vocals for lead single ‘High Priestess’) and opened live for James Blake. Indeed, with its digitised melancholia, Active Child’s debut isn’t a million miles away from Mr Blake’s eponymous effort sonically. But where the post-dubstep wunderkind™ focuses on glitch-laden sparseness, Grossi adorns his alt-pop with lush layers of shimmering harp, hypnotic synths and the ethereal croon he honed as a former choir boy. Simply gorgeous.
